K-9 vocalist and former Bungle, John Leeson is ‘unsure’ how die hard fans will react to K-9 Adventures, the rebooted K-9 spin off to be screened this Autumn on Five.
Leeson who has just finished recording the voice of K-9 for twenty six new episodes, was speaking to Get Wokingham on the eve of compering the Cantley Proms on Saturday 18th July.
The metal mutt has already undergone a less rights infringing upgrade and will soon be seen defending the Earth, along side tweenagers Starkey and Jorjie after they seek refuge in the home of Professor Gryffen, who is the inventor of a Time Manipulation device brings K-9 Mark I and two Jixen warriors to a near future London.
K-9′s spinoff series was jointly created by Bob Baker and Paul Tams. Baker, working with his then writing partner, Dave Martin, created the original K9 for the Fourth Doctor story The Invisible Enemy.
The old dog pulled a neat new trick earlier this year when the show debuted on the 3rd April on the Disney XD channel- the same day a certain new Doctor crashed his Tardis into a little girls garden.
Leeson has been voicing the character of K-9 since 1977 but still manages to amaze himself with his vocal performance.
“It must be something I take in my tea!†he said.
The Cantley Proms takes place in the Cantley House Hotel, Milton Road, Wokingham on Sunday, July 18th.
