Doctor Who Stars Come To Bristol’s Pandorica!

Philip Bates is a writer at Kasterborous Doctor Who News and Reviews - All the latest Doctor Who news and reviews with our weekly podKast, features and interviews, and a long-running forum.

This weekend, Bristol will host a great event featuring a plethora of fantastic Doctor Who stars.

Starting tomorrow (26th), Pandorica takes place right in the city centre at the Future Inns Hotel and boasts signings, photo sessions, talks and commentaries, as well as evening entertainment. If you’re an autograph hunter, this is definitely one you won’t want to miss: ticket holders get two free autographs from each guest while bonus signatures are just £5. If we estimate that each signature typically costs £10, the free ones alone, if you take full advatange of what’s on offer, are worth £360!

A weekend Adult ticket is just £85, while a single day is £45. Yep, that’s crazy. And each ticket also includes:

  • Entry to all Stage Talks
  •  Entry to free Backstage Sessions
  • Entry to free Workshop Sessions
  • Evening’s Entertainment & Disco
  • Souvenir Programme

Okay, so which stars will be there? Let’s start with the companions: Anneke Wills (Polly Wright); Katy Manning (Jo Grant); Louise Jameson (Leela); Sarah Sutton (Nyssa of Traken); and John Levene (Benton). They’re joined by three guests from 1985’s Revelation of the Daleks, Bridget Lynch Blosse, John Ogwen, and Trevor Cooper, the latter of whom also played Friar Tuck in Series 8’s Robot of Sherwood.

Two further nuWho stars going to Bristol are The Hungry Earth/ Cold Blood‘s Alun Raglan (Mo) and Samuel Davies (Elliot).

Ruari Mears will also be attending: you might know his face from Partners in Crime (2009) or Tooth and Claw (2006), but he most notably plays monsters like the Ood, Cyberleader, and a Time Zombie from last year’s Journey to the Centre of the TARDIS.

Further guests include Bernard Holley (The Claws of Axos), Pik Sen Lim (The Mind of Evil) and John Greenwood (The Mind Robber).

And it’s not just those who appear in front of the camera! Timothy Combe, whose credits include The Keys of MarinusThe Evil of the Daleks and Doctor Who and the Silurians, will be at Pandorica alongside K9 co-creator (and Wallace & Gromit scribe), Bob Baker, and costume designer, Sandra Reid, who helped in the creation of the Cybermen for The Tenth Planet!

Big Finish also has a presence there in the shape of Elliot Chapman, who is due to play Ben Jackson in upcoming Early Adventures audio dramas.

Philip Bond (The Daleks) is a bonus guest whose autograph will cost an extra £5 (still very reasonable!), and if you buy a book from Miwk Publishing, you can get it signed by writer, Jim Mortimore, or Seventh Doctor Script Editor, Andrew Cartmel (who we previously interviewed).

“[Bristol] is just a vibrant city,” publisher and co-organiser, Dexter O’Neill says, “and it’s kind of nonsensical that there hasn’t been a Doctor Who convention here!”

It’s very easy to get to as well. Just head for the new(-ish) shopping centre, Cabot Circus; Future Inns is just by the car park. There’s plenty of food and drink available nearby too, so no need to worry about that.

Organised by Fantom Publishing, running from 26th to 28th September, to find out more and pirchase tickets, head over to their official site.
